Rothko-esque painting in ArtRage

The prompt for this project was to create a painting in ArtRage that was in the style of Mark Rothko. I had never used ArtRage before, so it was interesting to experiment with the new program. Also, doing a Rothko-style painting was fun because the focus of the painting is not details, it's colors. I tried different color combinations until I finally found one that I liked.

For this assignment, I had to take photos where the focus was on the shadows of objects. Since it was a cloudy day, I had to use an artificial light source (a lamp) to take the photos. I think it turned out really cool!

This post is simply to explain that since I came into Digital Art later than the beginning of the year, I didn't have time to complete all the assignments. I tried to focus on the more interesting ones first, and so as a result I didn't have a chance to do: Light Painting, and Stranger Photos, and that's why they're not on my blog. Creative Blurring

For the creative blurring assignment, I had to find a picture and blur out the background. I found a picture of sunflowers, and made a separate layer with a copy of the sunflower in front, and then I applied a blur filter to the background. Overall, I am pleased with how it turned out and may use this technique to edit photos in the future.
